Drives for smart material flow solutions
Automation demands reliable and precise drives - this year's topic of Sumitomo (SHI) Cyclo Drive Germany GmbH at the Hanover Fair. The lively interest of the visitors proved that it had been possible to position the extensive portfolio of precision gears and geared motors in their importance for material flow applications in the modern, smart factory. The fair led to promising discussions with manufacturers of driverless transport systems, conveyor systems and robots.
The ALTAX compact unit, available in nine single-stage and four two-stage sizes, was the focus of discussions with developers and manufacturers of industrial trucks and AGVs. What Sumitomo (SHI) Cyclo Drive Germany GmbH scores with here is that ALTAX wheel drives with their lightweight aluminium housing are very compact, with low moment of inertia and very safe due to their high overload capacity. With motor outputs from 40 W to 3.7 kW, the ALTAX compact units cover a very wide power spectrum.
Especially for applications in robotics, Sumitomo (SHI) Cyclo Drive Germany GmbH presented its high-precision Fine Cyclo Drives for point- and path-controlled movements of robot axes or conveyor drives at the Hanover Fair. With finely graduated series of backlash-free and low-backlash precision gears, the manufacturer offers solutions for a wide variety of applications and payloads.
Precision for material handling
The BBB-H helical-bevel gearbox for high-speed applications such as belt drives also fitted very well into this year's trade fair motto Material Handling from Sumitomo (SHI) Cyclo Drive Germany GmbH: The chassis and lifting carriage of automatic bearing systems are ideal fields of application for the BBB-H. Angular geared motors such as Neo Hyponic are particularly suitable for overhead conveyors because they can be installed in any position and vibrate very little.
"Conveyor systems and robotics are already very important markets for us today and we want to convince more customers here - the discussions we held at the Hanover Fair were able to confirm this," sums up Peter Benzenhöfer, Head of Sales DACH and Eastern Europe at Sumitomo (SHI) Cyclo Drive Germany GmbH.
