Florian Butzmann is the new Managing Director and Chief Sales Officer

Florian Butzmann (Dipl.-Ing.) has been the Managing Director and Chief Sales Officer (CSO) of Sumitomo (SHI) Cyclo Drive Germany GmbH since the 1st April 2016. The 40-year-old engineer comes from the company ranks and had been Director Sales and Marketing for EMEA at the manufacturer of precision gearboxes from 2013. In this capacity, he recommended himself for the new position with the successful restructuring of sales and marketing.

The achievements of Florian Butzmann include making the EMEA sales organization of Sumitomo (SHI) Cyclo Drive Germany more efficient, thereby gearing it more strongly towards customer applications and solutions for specific drive tasks. Most recently, he succeeded in merging the sales organizations of Sumitomo (SHI) Cyclo Drive Germany GmbH and Hansen Industrial Transmissions NV, which has been part of the corporate group since 2011, with a great deal of tact and sensitivity and team spirit.

Florian Butzmann came to Sumitomo (SHI) Cyclo Drive Germany in 2012 as Sales Manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa. He is familiar with both field sales work as well as Key Account Management from personal experience and also brought many years of managerial experience as an international sales manager with him.

Strategy: Strong engineering partner

In his new role as CSO, the graduate mechanical engineer and Master of Business Administration intends to further enhance the expertise of Sumitomo in solving challenging drive tasks:

With extensive knowledge of the demands of the customers, we can develop creative technical solutions and offer them a genuine competitive advantage in their market in the long run", says Butzmann. With modern manufacturing facilities in Markt Indersdorf and Edegem,the additional portfolio of Hansen Industrial Transmission and an excellent combined sales network, Sumitomo is excellently positioned for further growth.

New subsidiary in India

Florian Butzmann succeeds Takeshi Okabe, previously the Chief Operating Officer (COO), in the four-member management. Takeshi Okabe is moving to Singapore to become managing director of the subsidiary Sumitomo (SHI) Cyclo Drive Asia Pacific. Especially exciting: The subsidiary in Singapore has also handed over responsibility for the India sales area, so that Sumitomo (SHI) Cyclo Drive Germany now has a branch in Mumbai in the form of Sumi-Cyclo Drive India Private Ltd.
