Combination of strain wave and cycloid gearing
With E-Cyclo, Sumitomo (SHI) Cyclo Drive Germany is launching a newly designed family of extremely compact gearboxes that are particularly suitable for high-precision applications such as handling robots and collaborating robots (Cobots). The "E" in E-Cyclo stands for "elastic", because the gear unit combines the principles of the wave gear and the cycloid gear.
E-Cyclo offers backlash-free power transmission with maximum stiffness and transmission precision at the same time and is small and light: As the smallest elastic cycloid gear from Sumitomo (SHI) Cyclo Drive Germany, the ECY105 measures only 84 mm in outer diameter and 52 mm in length. It has a hollow shaft diameter of 21 mm and weighs 1.2 kg. The E-Cyclo gearboxes are characterized by a relatively large hollow shaft through which supply lines, shafts and other media can be passed. The integrated bearing allows high output-side loads, such as those occurring in machine tools, positioners and robotics. They cover nominal operating torques of 25 to 63 Nm, but can even be loaded with an acceleration torque of up to 137 Nm. E-Cyclo gearboxes are factory lubricated for life, completely sealed and maintenance-free.
