SPS Italia 2026: Fine Cyclo B Series, smartris & NEO Essential Series
High-Precision, Compact and Flexible Solutions for Industry, Robotics and Automation

At SPS Italia 2026 in Parma (26–28 May, Hall 5, Stand L021), Sumitomo Drive Technologies, together with the Lafert Group, will present the latest drive solutions for high-precision applications in industry, automation and robotics.
The focus will be on the launch of the Fine Cyclo® B series as the next generation of precision gearboxes, as well as smartris, an integrated plug-and-play drive system for automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), which is now also available for the first time with the new Compact Plus drive controller. The exhibition stand is complemented by the NEO Essential series, a compact and cost-effective product line for standard applications.
Fine Cyclo B Series: Compact, Powerful, Versatile
The new Fine Cyclo series from Sumitomo Drive Technologies combines a compact design with maximum precision and performance for highly dynamic machine solutions. The precision gearboxes with Cyclo technology cover outer diameters from 120 to 231 mm and transmit acceleration torques from 417 to 4,000 Nm. In the overload range, peak torques of up to 8,000 Nm (emergency stop) are possible. The gearboxes in the new Fine Cyclo B series ensure zero backlash, precise concentricity and parallelism, high torsional rigidity, and dynamic movement even under peak loads. Thanks to their single-stage design, modular reduction ratios (29–179:1) and direct motor connection, they can be integrated into machines in a particularly compact manner.
The Fine Cyclo B series comprises two variants that cover different integration requirements: the F4C-B type with integrated main bearing, a compact plug-and-play gearbox with high rigidity, precise transmission accuracy and immediate operational readiness, which can be flexibly adapted to different automation tasks in four sizes.
The FC-B KIT type, on the other hand, is a modular precision gearbox for custom machine solutions, offering maximum design freedom, precise torque transmission and a wide range of reduction options.
Both variants combine precision, flexibility and robustness for highly dynamic applications. This allows the series to be optimally adapted to different requirements in industry and robotics.

New Highlight: Smartris Debuts With the “Compact Plus” Servo Drive
As a further trade fair highlight, Sumitomo Drive Technologies is presenting the smartris AGV/AMR solution, a compact plug-and-play drive package for automated guided vehicles and autonomous mobile robots. Smartris, a joint development with the Lafert Group, combines a cycloidal gearbox, servo motor and drive controller in a coordinated complete system. The solution is available in three sizes and various configurations with numerous options, and is particularly suitable for vehicles with differential drive. Smartris enables fast, flexible and quiet movement of autonomous systems and facilitates integration into existing AGV and AMR applications.
At SPS Italia 2026, Sumitomo Drive Technologies is now also showcasing Smartris for the first time with the new Compact Plus drive controller, which covers all sizes and can be flexibly integrated into a wide variety of applications. With EtherCAT and PROFINET interfaces, commissioning is particularly quick and easy. Advanced safety functions such as STO (SIL3) and SBC (SIL3) ensure maximum operational safety, whilst position control enables precise motion profiles.
NEO Essential Series: Compact and Cost-Effective Drive Solutions for Standard Applications
The NEO Essential series, first unveiled in November 2025 at the SPS in Nuremberg, represents a portfolio expansion that combines proven gear technology in a compact and cost-effective package.
It comprises four product lines:
Prest NEO: quiet and space-saving helical gear motors for standard applications
Altax NEO: cyclo-gear motors with high shock and overload capacity
Hyponic NEO: right-angle gearmotors for efficient power transmission
Planetra NEO: robust planetary gearboxes for high radial and axial loads
The series enables rapid integration, maintenance-free operation and reliable performance. It is aimed in particular at users seeking compact, cost-effective solutions for standard applications.
